MASTERCLASS: Watercolor with Geoff Allen

Join acclaimed painter Geoff Allen for an immersive two-day workshop designed to strengthen your skills through a balance of demonstration, guided exercises, and hands-on painting. Geoff’s masterclasses typically run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., beginning each day with a focused two-hour demo that breaks down his process step by step. Students will then have the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned through structured painting exercises and individual projects, with plenty of one-on-one feedback throughout the day. Geoff may lead a plein air session on the afternoon of the second day; weather and group readiness permitting.

Geoff Allen is an award-winning plein air watercolorist whose work celebrates the immediacy of nature and the spontaneity of the medium. Trained at Claremont Graduate University (MFA, 1990) after an early start in photography, Geoff has exhibited nationally and earned top honors at major plein air festivals and juried shows, including the American Impressionist Society and Laguna Plein Air Painters Association. Featured on the cover of Plein Air Magazine in 2024, he continues to create expressive, place-driven watercolors that balance technical skill with the thrill of discovery.
