Elements of Watercolor

This introductory watercolor workshop provides new students with the essential skills to confidently join regular classes and begin exploring this rewarding medium. Participants will learn how to balance water and paint, choose and care for brushes, select the right paper, and set up a palette. Core topics include the color wheel, warm and cool colors, transparency, mixing methods, reserving whites, and correcting mistakes. Students will practice washes, glazes, dry brush, spattering, scraping, and texture techniques while working toward both a landscape and a still life. Additional focus will be given to composition, perspective, and rendering natural elements such as skies, trees, grasses, rocks, and water.
