WORKSHOP: BERNARD HOYES - Non-Toxic Electrolyte Etching

Exploring Electrolyte Etching with Bernard Hoyes

The Toxicity of traditional etching using acids is elimated with Electorolite Etching.

A non-toxic process using salt water and nine-volt battery to etch the plate.

The traditional etching process is resumed and actualized in this workshop.

Etching Sessions will be over four weeks.

Four Thursdays, January 12 -  February 2nd,  9am - 12pm.

Students will be instructed on how to prepare a Zinc plate which is provided, for transfer of image.

The Student’s own original drawing will be transferred to their prepared plate.  Then the plate will be engraved or scratched, using different marking tools and impressions.

Supplies, including zinc plates, inks, Asphaltum and paper to complete an Edition of 7-10 prints, over the four (4) Thursday sessions will be supplied.

Cost: $175 for the four classes

 $65 for all supplies
