David Fairrington - Featured Artist Show Reception

  • 12/07/2018
  • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Desert Art Center - Small Gallery

Featured artist David Fairrington will be exhibiting portraits from his RED KIMONO II PROJECT, opening on Friday, Dec 7th and running through the weekend. The opening also features DAC’s Winter Show, a new exhibit of its juried members running through January.  The reception at the center will be from 6 pm - 8 pm

Recently, David painted a series called Red Kimono I Project. It was so successful that David is following up with RED KIMONO II PROJECT, which will encompass people of note in Palm Springs. This series is highlighting the LGBTQ community. The idea of an LGBTQ version of the Red Kimono evolved from the painting of people who attended last year’s Palm Springs Dress Red Fundraiser.

The Red Kimono concept allows each person to make a statement about how they want to be seen. The Red Kimono represents how we are all cloaked in the same cloth of humanity.

For the December 7 preview, the first public phase of the RED KIMONO II PROJECT, David will be showing at least 9 portraits.
